Lord of the rings

Sometimes he wears more than 20 rings on his hands. Who is he? I’m talking about Karl Lagerfeld, probably the most famous designer living on this earth.

Let’s have a history lesson: Karl Otto Lagerfeld was born in Germany and he reached his first success as a designer with a wool coat that he presented at a competition. At this event he met Pierre Balmain who helped him with his first

steps into fashion business. But as head- designer for Chanel he earned the worldwide glory and fame. Best known for his PrĂȘt- a- Porter collections, Lagerfeld was the one to leverage Claudia Schiffer, the former German super model, to her fame.

Karl Lagerfeld’s trademarks are of course his white powdered hair and his sunglasses, but also the many rings he wears on each hand. Not just one, five or even ten. No! The picture shows Karl Lagerfeld’s hands and here he wears 20 rings! He is a symbol of extravagance.

So maybe the next time you are putting your rings on, think of Karl and his hands and put another one on. And another one. And again: another one.

Fascination: Hair dressing!

The annual Mercedes- Benz Japan Fashion Week took place on the 18th- 24th of March. Almost 40 designers presented their collections, but the real attraction of the event was the hair dresser presentations.

This is not your average presentation in which all the new hair styles for upcoming autumn winter season are shown, not at all! Japan breaks all rules in these show- weird colours, absolute crazy shaping and forming and completely inappropriate for daily life.

It might be really awesome to watch the show. It’s a kind of fashion that fascinates with its extravagance. And the best thing of all:

Hair that really glows in the night! We LOVE shiny hair!!!

Chocolaty!

One thing that connects most of the people around the world is one love- the love to chocolate.
The sweet taste of milky chocolate, the tart taste of dark, the flavour in your coffee, or the huge bar of chocolate you eat after a stressful day, no matter how or when, chocolate is maybe the solution for all of our problems!
How many times has everybody tried to escape  this sweet temptation and how many hours of exhausting sports has everybody gone through to get rid of all the calories?!

And now check out “The Salon du Chocolate”- a huge exhibition all about our beloved chocolate based in Paris this year. The big closing event is a fashion show.
Normal models are presenting outfits that normal designers created. Normal Outfits? Not at all! All dresses are mostly made of chocolate!
These models unify what we at Magnolia love the most: Chocolate and fashion!
But isn’t it ironic: beautiful, skinny models and chocolate?!?

Flower Power!

The 60’s were  filled with important political, social and economical happenings: Neil Armstrong as the first man on the moon, the Vietnam War and along with it the beginnings of the freedom movements, the movement of the students, the end of the Soviet Union and of course Woodstock.
All these happenings have influenced at our daily lives.

These years also changed the fashion industry remarkable.
Twiggy (seen in this picture), one of the world’s best known models, started the fashionable revolution. The outfits from those days are back on trend again, especially in the world of accessories.

Magnolia Silver Jewellery is known for classical, timeless and exclusive jewellery. But our collection also offers jewellery to support your 60’s outfit!
