Kai Aiyub for Magnolia Silver Jewellery

All Magnolia lovers know that more or less 500 new jewellery designs hit the stores each month. By 1st of June the Kai Aiyub for Magnolia Silver Jewellery collection will land in stores! These 12 gorgeous pieces are not just your average rings, bracelets and necklaces- these pieces tell a story; a story about a girl called Lola.
Lola is in search for adventure, fame and of course for the big love and her journey lands her to Los Angeles. Here Lola is pursues her dreams.

Melrose

The ‘Melrose Collection’ reflects Lola’s shopping sprees along Melrose and her style. Her creator, Kai Aiyub, describes her style as “a vintage feel but with a modern vibe”. And all 4 pieces of this collection fit perfectly in the ‘modern vibe’ part of Kai’s description.

Venice Beach

The next part of this collection is called ‘Venice Beach ‘. It represents the relaxed lifestyle at Venice Beach, the waves of the sea, the blue sky. Venice Beach can show you how good life can be and the design of the following pieces totally expresses the part of Lola’s dream that includes the Venice Beach vintage lifestyle.

Lola's Dream

Hopefully you will be able to recognize the special thing about the last set in the ‘A girl called Lola’ collection! Magnolia Silver Jewellery proudly presents the first 925 Sterling Silver hair pin to be stocked in our stores ever! This pin is part of ‘Lola’s dream’. The star shape that belongs to each item is the essence of ‘Lola’s dream’. These 5 pieces are a symbol of Lola’s dream of being an ‘it girl’ but also of finding the love and all the other dreams and wishes a girl has when she starts her new life in L.A.

Well, that’s it. That is the premiere of Magnolia Silver Jewellery in cooperation with a stylist and fashion guru. And to be honest all items are simply stunning. You don’t have to buy the whole collection. Just one piece is enough for any outfit. Or you buy different pieces from different collections and mix and match!  If you’ve fallen in love with everything then why not buy them all. Whatever you want, Kai’s collection offers this for you. Keep it elegant with ‘Melrose’ or vintage with ‘Venice Beach’ or even in a way coltish with ‘Lola’s dream’. I can just repeat: It offers for every type of person a matching piece of jewellery.
So don’t miss it when it is in our stores stocking at 1st June or be clever and have a look on our homepage to order your Kai Aiyub for Magnolia Silver Jewellery bracelet, ring, necklace, earring or HAIR PIN right now: http://www.magnolia-jewellery.com.au/KaisCollection

MB Fashion Week Report - Part 1

It’s already the middle of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia and time for a report about two design presentations of the new spring and summer collections. The first days have proven that Australian Fashion Week is in no way inferior to any of the shows in Milan, London, Paris and New York.

One of the first shows was Gail Sorranda’s presentation of her collection. Her pieces are unusual and colorful for a spring/summer collection. The statuesque models presented the fashion standing on dramatically slow moving boxes that contrasted on the one hand but also intensified on the other hand all of her models and outfits. Also stunning in her collection are the intricate head and hair pieces that she used to restage her collection.

One of the next amazing catwalk shows was Camilla’s Spring/Summer collection. Colorful dresses, suites, visors and jewellery represented the collections’ topic: Gypset.- a mixture between two actually completely different lifestyles combined by Camilla to maybe one of the most stunning collections at MB Fashion Festival. The one style refers to the jetset living of nowadays generation but the other one refers to the gypsy mentality lived out by many inspiriting people of the 1960s like e.g. Jimi Hendrix, Frida Kahlo or Verushka. This collection contains also two debuts of Camilla: her collection includes ready-to-wear pieces and she designed pieces for children, too. It will be hard for any designer to make the catwalk more colorful than Camilla did it.

During Mercedes Benz Fashion Week of course a lot more designers will present their collections. Magnolia’s Blog will continue tomorrow with reporting about Sydney’s biggest fashion event! Keep in touch and don’t miss this event!

Thank you Mrs Roentgen!

This picture was taken on 22/12/1895. What it shows should be easily recognized by everybody: an x-ray of a human hand. Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen from Germany was the first to use radiation for scanning the body. His experiment object was his wife. Well, his wife’s hand. For this discovery he earned the Nobel Prize for physics. Magnolia Silver Jewellery of course honors Roentgen but has anybody ever spent one thought about honoring his wife as well? On the one hand she had been exposed to harmful radiation. And on the other hand, come on, fashionistas look at the beautiful ring! Her wedding ring is not a classical thin and golden ring. It is a ring with a very big stone – which is quite on trend today! So on physical aspect: Thank you Mrs Roentgen for donating your hand to science! And on the fashion aspect: Thank you for already wearing fashionable rings and showing the beauty of jewellery with this picture which is by the way in the list of the “100 world changing pictures”

Are diamonds really a girl's best friend

Marilyn Monroe stated in 1953 that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Is that really true? To be honest not many things are as impressive as the sparkling stones. But I think that times may have changed. Silver will displace diamonds and will become the new best friend of every girl.

A short story about jewellery.

As nothing world shaking is happening at the moment on the global fashion market and we are all just wait for the beginning of Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week on April 30th, today’s topic is again a historical one.

I was wondering what deep history and backgrounds are behind the jewellery we wear, and after some long research I can briefly summarize the history of jewellery and of course offer you the appropriate Magnolia Items for each date. Magnolia simply is timeless!

Archaeologists found jewellery or rather ornaments that conduced to adornment made of shells. These ornaments can be dated 100 000 years before our time!

RRP $ 116

6000 years ago the world was no longer reliant to leafs, bones, shells, teeth and insects to us as jewellery. Mankind discovers the manufacture of metals and so the era of nature jewellery ended.

RRP $ 38

At the time of the Greco-Roman ancient world jewellery had become a status symbol. In the hierarchy of the Roman and the Greco cultures only the important had the right and the permission the wear beautiful gold jewellery. For poorer people it was not forbidden but at least they hadn’t the money for gold and silver manufactured ornaments. Rings for example had been a symbol of playing a more or less important role in political activity of the government.

RRP $ 99

With the upcoming popularity of the Christian belief the use of ornaments in churches grew. Until today we can see in Christian churches in Europe a lot of gold and complex adornments at the sanctuaries. Until today believers wear the cross as symbol of their religious belief.

RRP $ 149

Not until the 19th century had jewellery been an ornament for everybody’s daily use. With large scale productions the popularity escalated and this stayed at least until now. Almost every person around the world has jewellery. Of course it is still worn because of different reasons but basically jewellery is one of the most popular items around the world. No matter if you like it simple and timeless:

RRP $ 62

Or if you like it extravagant:

RRP $ 92

Jewellery is timeless and stays timeless!

Keep sparkling!

The last days of summer have finally reached us. Now it is time not to suffer in depression and not to start complaining about the weather and the upcoming coldness. Magnolias motto is ‘sparkle up your day’ and this doesn’t just refer to our jewellery. Keep this motto in your head for the upcoming winter months. Put on some jewellery and go outside your house. When you start complaining about the coldness just look at how your jewellery sparkles in the sun. As long as the sun is shining we can keep at least a bit of sparkles in our mind. Sparkles lead to smiles and smiling is healthy. So Magnolias advice for today: Keep sparkling- keep smiling- stay healthy!
