MB Fashion Week Report - Part 1

It’s already the middle of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia and time for a report about two design presentations of the new spring and summer collections. The first days have proven that Australian Fashion Week is in no way inferior to any of the shows in Milan, London, Paris and New York.

One of the first shows was Gail Sorranda’s presentation of her collection. Her pieces are unusual and colorful for a spring/summer collection. The statuesque models presented the fashion standing on dramatically slow moving boxes that contrasted on the one hand but also intensified on the other hand all of her models and outfits. Also stunning in her collection are the intricate head and hair pieces that she used to restage her collection.

One of the next amazing catwalk shows was Camilla’s Spring/Summer collection. Colorful dresses, suites, visors and jewellery represented the collections’ topic: Gypset.- a mixture between two actually completely different lifestyles combined by Camilla to maybe one of the most stunning collections at MB Fashion Festival. The one style refers to the jetset living of nowadays generation but the other one refers to the gypsy mentality lived out by many inspiriting people of the 1960s like e.g. Jimi Hendrix, Frida Kahlo or Verushka. This collection contains also two debuts of Camilla: her collection includes ready-to-wear pieces and she designed pieces for children, too. It will be hard for any designer to make the catwalk more colorful than Camilla did it.

During Mercedes Benz Fashion Week of course a lot more designers will present their collections. Magnolia’s Blog will continue tomorrow with reporting about Sydney’s biggest fashion event! Keep in touch and don’t miss this event!
