This picture was taken on 22/12/1895. What it shows should be easily recognized by everybody: an x-ray of a human hand. Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen from Germany was the first to use radiation for scanning the body. His experiment object was his wife. Well, his wife’s hand. For this discovery he earned the Nobel Prize for physics. Magnolia Silver Jewellery of course honors Roentgen but has anybody ever spent one thought about honoring his wife as well? A short story about jewellery.

As nothing world shaking is happening at the moment on the global fashion market and we are all just wait for the beginning of Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week on April 30^th, today’s topic is again a historical one.

 

I was wondering what deep history and backgrounds are behind the jewellery we wear, and after some long research I can briefly summarize the history of jewellery and of course offer you the appropriate Magnolia Items for each date. Magnolia simply is timeless!

Sex and the city

925 Sterling Silver

After all these Blog entries about fashion, style and shows, it’s maybe time for some informational background knowledge about Magnolia Silver Jewellery. Today’s topic deals with the resource our jewellery is made of: The 925 Sterling Silver.

All fashion fans know that the edgy, dark and mysterious look is totally on trend but Beijing Fashion Week hyperboloid this style. Let’s just analyses the picture for a second: The outfit worn by the model on the left side is actually the only style that could be sold in stores. The model in the middle wears a strange cut dress with fur trimming and the outfit of the model on the right combines shorts and fur which again shows how weird this collection is. But what have these three outfits in common? The living dead look, the bones and hats and of course the skull masks. 

This is not edgy anymore. This is weird and crazy. What could the message from the designer be? There’s possibly a deeper meaning behind these masks. Perhaps this collection is about the battle within the fashion industry about the healthy weight of models. Designers want to work with skinny models which is promoting an unhealthy body image. Maybe the ensembles represent these models bones, their battles with their weight which has led to the death of some models who have starved themselves to death just for their career.
